Breast Reconstruction – Latissimus Dorsi Flap
Latissimus dorsi flap breast reconstruction involves rebuilding a breast shape by moving skin, fatty tissue and muscle from the back (below the shoulder blade) to the chest. an oval flap of skin, fat, muscle, and blood vessels from your upper back is used to reconstruct the breast. This flap is moved under your skin around to your chest to rebuild your breast. The blood vessels (artery and vein) of the flap are left attached to their original blood supply in your back. Because the flap contains a significant amount of muscle, a latissimus dorsi flap is considered a muscle-transfer type of flap.

Nipple Reconstruction
This surgery can be done by itself or as the complete and final step of a breast reconstruction. It is a simple procedure that can make a huge difference to the look of a reconstructed breast, making it closely resemble a native breast. This procedure creates the mound of the nipple itself while the areola colour is provided by visiting a medical tattooist after your nipple reconstruction has been completed.
