PRP Injections

What is PRP Facial Treatment?

Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, is a substance that has a wide range of applications in plastic surgery and in medicine in general. Plasma is a component of blood that contains special “factors,” or proteins, that help blood to clot. It also contains proteins that support cell growth.

PRP when injected stimulates the body to grow new, healthy cells and promote healing and rejuvenation.

PRP facials are a groundbreaking solution for aging or damaged skin & known as platelet-rich plasma skin rejuvenation or PRP facial rejuvenation. It’s basically an anti-aging skin treatment that leaves skin looking younger, smoother, and overall healthier.

How?

Our blood is made of plasma, red and white blood cells, and platelets. These platelets help our blood clot and produce growth factor proteins that are essential for healing. PRP facial rejuvenation uses platelets from your own blood to help heal and renew your skin. Growth factors are essential in our skin to keep it looking plump & full of elastin.

What does PRP facial rejuvenation involve?
PRP can also be used as an effective treatment for hair restoration.

To start this process, a medical professional will draw a small vial of blood from you, and it will be placed in a centrifuge that separates the platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from the blood. This concentrates the platelet count to many times higher than usual, and the result is amazing. From there, it can be used to address skin complaints.

What are the benefits of PRP facials?

PRP facial rejuvenation offers many benefits, including:⇒ Increased collagen production
⇒ Reduced wrinkles and fine lines
⇒ Tightening and toning the skin
⇒ Reducing acne damage and scarring
⇒ Lessening dark under-eye circles
⇒ Minimizing crow’s feet
⇒ Reducing sun damage
⇒ Producing healthier skin

Who is a good candidate for a PRP facial?

One of the best things about PRP facial rejuvenation is that almost any man or woman can be considered a great candidate for the procedure. This process is effective on all skin types and ages. PRP facial rejuvenation is an excellent treatment option for individuals just starting to explore anti-aging and skin rejuvenation. Additionally, PRP facials are great for people looking to maintain healthy skin or looking to enhance their skin before a big event. Before you begin the process, we will go over all your questions and concerns to make sure PRP facial rejuvenation is a good fit for you.

How Long Do The Results Of PRP Facial Last?

Because cosmetic treatments are dependent on the overall skin quality of each patient will influence the longevity of your results. At the very least, you should experience results, especially after your first treatment, for around 6 to 12 months.

For the longest-lasting results, then you should work with our nurse to create a long-term skin care plan that includes multiple PRP facial treatments. Your lifestyle, age, genetics, and other factors will also play into how good your results are and how long they’ll last.

When you book a consultation at Mode Medispa, we’ll help you understand specifically what you’ll need to do to maintain your results.

How Often Should I Get Prp Face Treatments?

To get the best results possible, it’s recommended to get PRP injection treatments for at least 3 months in a row. Of course, this may vary depending on how well your skin responds to the platelet-rich plasma injections.

Procedure Information

In plastic surgery PRP provides a safe and natural approach to skin rejuvenation to:

  • Improve the skin’s tone & texture
  • Minimize signs of ageing
  • Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
  • Boost collagen production
  • Reducing dark under eye circles
  • Assisting acne scaring
  • Accelerating hair regrowth

Can be used on under eye, full face, neck, decolletage and hands.

The first step involves taking a sample of blood from the arm – this is similar to having a normal blood test.

The blood collected is then placed in a medical grade centrifuge. This process separates the red blood cells from the gold plasma – which contains a rich concentration of platelets. These contain antibodies, enzymes and proteins including growth factors. It is these products within PRP that

  • activate skin rejuvenation by stimulating new collagen production
  • helping skin cells to repair themselves
  • stimulate the formation of new blood vessels in the skin.

After numbing cream is applied to the designated area the patients PRP (after careful preparation mentioned above) is injected back into the skin with very fine needles. The whole procedure takes approximately 45 mins to 1 hour.

All our equipment and vials are TGA approved.

Procedure FAQs

Fortunately because PRP is sourced from the patient’s own blood – this reduces the risks for an allergic reaction that can occur from injecting other medications. However there can be some risks from the injection itself such as:

  • Bruising is common especially around the eye area lasting 5 – 10 days
  • Swelling from inflammation 2 – 3 days.
  • Mild discomfort 1 – 2 days

Because PRP injections are intended to promote healing or growth, you may not notice an immediate difference after receiving the injections.

Some results may be visible after second treatment while others can take up the 3 to 6 months before seeing results.

Our suggested initial protocol is three to four treatments at one month intervals. Then a yearly maintenance or six monthly maintenance treatment especially for older patients.
