Gynaecomastia (Male Breast Reduction) – Before and After

Gynaecomastia is when there is excess tissue or fat in the male chest, which makes the breasts look feminine.

Gynaecomastia Surgery (also known as Male Breast or Chest Reduction Surgery) involves the removal of fat and glandular tissue from the male chest. This is often combined with repositioning of the nipple. The outcome is to restore a masculine shape to the chest.

Gynaecomastia Before and After

This is another before and after of a patient with bilateral gynaecomastia. The condition can be graded mild, moderate, or severe and this patient’s gynaecomastia is mild with excess tissue in the chest (both fat and glandular tissue). Gynecomastia is very common – more than half of all boys develop the condition during puberty, and it normally disappears as they grow older. About 1 in 3 older men will develop it.

Gynecomastia causes enlarged breasts that feel rubbery or firm. The swelling spreads from underneath the nipple outwards over the breast area. It’s different from enlarged male breasts caused by being overweight.

This patient was treated with liposuction and direct gland removal via an incision placed around the nipple. The patient stayed in hospital for one night, and the surgery was performed under a general anaesthetic.

Gynaecomastia Before and After

This is a before and after of one of our patients with gynaecomastia whose concern was largely on the right hand side of his chest.
This condition makes men very self conscious especially if it is difficult to hide in clothing. Patients refrain from activities like taking their shirt off at the beach.

This patient was treated with liposuction and direct gland removal via an incision placed around the nipple. The patient stayed in hospital for one night, and the surgery was performed under a general anaesthetic.

An excellent outcome was achieved, and even with his shirt off, it is difficult to see whether any surgery has taken place.

Gynecomastia Before and After

This patient had gynaecomastia which he was very self conscious about. One interesting thing to note is that his nipple position was already low in the preoperative image, and the concern was that removal of his glandular tissue will mean his nipple might droop even more after surgery.

Dr Aggarwal used a combination of liposuction, gland excision, and removal of a small amount of skin to produce this before and after result, which is shown 3 months after surgery. Even though there is a small horizontal scar near the nipple it has healed very well and is already difficult to see. We are glad the patient now has the confidence to take his shirt off when swimming or at the beach. We want to thank him for allowing us to share these results!

Gynaecomastia Before and After

This patient had mild gynaecomastia which he was very self conscious about.

This before and after result is shown 3 months after surgery which included liposuction and direct gland excision through a concealed scar around the nipple. The aim of surgery is to allow this patient to have the confidence to take his shirt off when swimming or at the beach, with scars that are difficult to see.
